Biological (Agriculture) Assistant
Batam (Kepulauan Riau)
Responsibilities:
Following and running the routine day to day Lemna bioreactor management according to the company SOP’s, policy & procedures.
Efficiently utilizing protocols in order to control and manage growth requirements, harvest set points, follow and maintain water quality standards and monitor all other parameters related to keeping health of bioreactors.
Participating with other farm staff in essential operations like cleaning, weighing, yield estimations, fertilizer applications, pest control, maintenance, and harvesting. This includes running pumps, filters, small machinery, and more.
Anticipating & solving the problems which may arise at the farm at any time.
Ensuring the continuity of supplies and making requests for any supplies that may be needed for field and/or lab.
Running analytical equipment and be responsible for calibration and maintenance where applicable.
Ensuring the safety protocols per equipment used in lab and outdoors and proper location, organization, and familiarity with MSDS.
Being informed on agriculture practices in action at the farm round the clock and make sure the bioreactors receive the best management while following all management procedures. These points will include, but are not limited to, applying proper fertilizers, monitoring density, estimating harvest amounts, monitoring species, monitoring pests, and maintaining water quality parameters.
Reports to : Chief Biologist and VP of Asia Division
Immediate Subordinate : New Hire Lab Techinician
Requirements:
Bachelor Degree in Agricultural Engineering, Marine Biology, Plant Physiology, Ecology, Biology, Botany, or related field. Must be willing to travel up to 50% of the time.
Skills & Abilities: Computer, Microsoft office, and experience with analytical programs and generation of equations favorable, people skills, have ability to work in relatively unsupervised, fast paced environment
Preferably 1-2 years in field of hydroponics or aquatic plants agriculture or other field and/ or lab research, water or waste water management experience a plus.
Strong team player
A team worker and good command of English both oral and written
